Laini Nemett is a painter who works with composite scenes and structures to create tangible spaces of entry. After completing Bachelor´s degrees in Visual Arts and Art History at Brown University, she moved to Barcelona on a Fulbright fellowship in Painting. It was there that her compositions first moved outside and the city itself became her subject. After three years in Spain, Laini relocated to Brooklyn, and most recently back to her home-town of Baltimore, Maryland, where she continues working with urban and intimate environments as a context within which to explore the art and abstraction of our everyday surroundings.
Laini has participated in solo and group exhibitions in Maryland, Rhode Island, Delaware, Connecticut, New York, Italy, Africa, and Spain, and has lectured about her work in numerous institutions including Brown University in Providence, RI, George Mason University in Fairfax, VA, St. John´s University in Queens, NY, The International School of Painting, Drawing & Sculpture in Umbria, Italy, the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, and the Casa das Artes Criação Ambiente e Utopias in Sao Tome, Africa.
